Anna F. Roppo was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto, Victoria College, in 1983, graduating summa cum laude. Anna received her Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law, San Diego, in 1987. She was admitted to practice law in the State of California in December 1987. She is a shareholder and member of the Executive Committee of the firm. Over 21 years in practice, Anna has achieved an AV rating by her peers, which is the highest rating available. Women AV rated attorneys represent less than 5% of the Bar. Anna's litigation practice has touched upon a wide variety of areas, but is concentrated in business, health care and real estate matters. She is fluent in Italian and speaks French and Spanish. She has represented clients based in France and Mexico. Her business litigation practice includes actions for breach of contract, fraud, unfair business practices, and unfair competition for a variety of clients, from individuals and small business owners to Fortune 500 companies. Anna’s philosophy is that every client deserves the same consideration, whether an individual or a major corporation. Anna’s healthcare litigation practice includes matters involving billing, coding and vendor contracting, as well as issues involving the continuity of patient care, medical records management, patient privacy and physician ownership interests. She has also litigated matters involving the corporate practice of medicine doctrine, physician termination involving non-compete and anti-solicitation clauses, and medical group dissolution. In the area of real estate litigation, Anna is recognized for her extensive experience in mobilehome park law including rent control; special adjustments; park conversions; failure to maintain litigation; drafting, analysis and enforcement of rules and regulations; drafting leases (both month-to-month and long-term); and related matters. Anna also maintains an extensive unlawful detainer (commercial and residential) practice. She also represents design professionals, with an emphasis on soils engineers, in construction litigation, as well as the interests of government contractors with regard to their relationship with federal and local public agencies. Anna has tried cases to jury verdict and has had numerous bench trials and arbitrations. She has been a member of the Board for the Association of Business Trial Lawyers since 2006, and is currently the President.
